Dreaming of playing jazz guitar

I wanted to learn jazz guitar…

but I felt stuck improvising with the 1st position pentatonic scale and playing rhythm guitar using cowboy and basic barre chords…

Are you bored with your playing and feeling like you’ve reached a plateau? Do you feel your improvisation is repetitive and simple? Is your rhythm playing basic and lacking that jazzy feel you dream about?

That was my starting point when I decided to learn jazz guitar.

I had played rock and blues guitar all my life, yet I hadn’t made much progress towards unlocking the mystery of the fretboard like I wanted.

I could play memorized licks, almost always based on the 1st position pentatonic. I could play open string cowboy chords and barre chords up and down the neck. But I felt stuck. Especially when I decided to learn jazz guitar.

My question was how do I get from those guitar limitations to becoming the professional-level jazz player I want to be? I tried many methods, but they didn’t really move me closer to my goal. I watched YouTube videos, but all the information was piecemeal and disjointed.

But then there were a few techniques that made huge progress towards my goal.

On this website I share the techniques that are helping me make leaps of progress to being a really good jazz guitar player.
